Malcolm Pearson is a management consultant and consulting engineer and is an Executive Director of Maunsell Consultants Asia Ltd. Malcolm came to Hong Kong in 1975 and as an Engineer worked on the design of infrastructure for Sha Tin New Town. Over the next decade he was also involved in a number of other large projects including the MTR Island Line (as Registered Structural Engineer for a number of the stations), the Cultural Centre and the Bank of China Tower. Since 1988, he has been responsible for developing Maunsell's project management and management consultancy services. Maunsell is recognised as one of the foremost local project management firms and is currently managing the Science Park Project. Malcolm has led studies of: Hong Kong as an International Maritime Centre; Hong Kong as a base for Regional Distribution Centres; a Logistics Park on Lantau Island; Customs Services and Practices for all Modes of Shipment; Procedures and Practices for the Public Works Programme; a Transport Information System; and a Centralised Construction Standardisation Body. He has also led departmental business studies of Fire Services Department, Planning Department, Works Bureau, Education and Manpower Bureau, Architectural Services Department. Malcolm has been trained as a workshop facilitator, and is regularly engaged to facilitate problem solving workshops of various forms including value management and partnering. He is a former President of the Hong Kong Institute of Value Management.
