Michael Mann is a Building Surveyor who has been in Hong Kong since 1976. He is Chairman of MRM Consultants which he set up in 1996 to provide a wide range of surveying expertise for existing or potential property owners. This includes surveys of new or old buildings, analysis of defects and repair recommendations, monitoring of new developments and the project management of interior fit out schemes or building refurbishment projects. In providing professional advice and studies for clients or their legal advisors, he has also acted as expert witness and given evidence in Court. He was previously with Vigers in London and set up their Hong Kong office when they were appointed by the MTR to inspect and report on all buildings adjacent to the railway workings and advise on defects and any claims arising. He organised this work for all the MTR's lines as well as for other major infrastructure and development projects locally and around the region. He was President of both the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and the local branch of the RICS in London from 1993-1995. He is currently a member of a number of Government bodies, including the Town Planning Appeal Board and the Appeal Tribunal (Buildings).

MRM Consultants Limited is a consultancy firm providing Building Surveying services and expertise to clients in Hong Kong and around the region. It was set up in late 1996 and has been undertaking a range of services on property related matters to suit the needs of owners, potential purchasers, developers and other professions.

The company specialises in matters involving property development, planning, construction, alterations, renovations, repairs and maintenance. These services include the following:-

• Providing necessary expertise on building surveying matters
• Undertaking surveys of old and new properties, preparing schedules of condition.
• Preparation of maintenance and management programmes.
• Advise on the repair and renovation of buildings, inside and out.
• Inspection and analysis of defects for claims purposes in construction matters.
• Survey and diagnosis of defects in buildings and recommendations for repairs.
• Supervising of renovation and improvement works in commercial or residential buildings, including the preparation of specifications, drawings, obtaining tenders, providing cost control throughout the project.
• Acting as expert witness on building matters and attending court when necessary.
